Moving on UP! to the Gulf Side!! Not the East Side George! :)

It's hard to tear yourself away from the awesomeness of the Keys! you do all the daytime "sun" things, like the beach, but mostly the pool, because the sand here really is sand at all....it's like broken shells and coral! rough on the feet etc, but the point is.....being in the water and sun so much drains you and by the time you have supper and go out somewhere and get back about 9 ish....it's bedtime! hahaha how's that for being OLD! i know y'all are thinkin it, so i might as well say it!! but that's okay too, cause i am getting up there, and as long as i don't miss the daytime fun, who cares about staying up after 10???? not me! :)

Actually i am headed for out last day at this pool, and tomorrow we will be moving up to Fort Myers and stay a few days....the sand there is really good and we will be doing some shelling there! they say you can really get some beautiful shells there, so we shall see!! kinda looking forward to that!! would like to get some for Donna's pool! :)

okay folks, the pool is calling me and the Palm trees are waving for me to come on over, so i'm outta here!!! Catch y'all later!!

WAHOOOOOO, i'm in the KEY'S, AND LOVE LOVE LOVIN IT!!!! :))))

There's a "change" a comin......tomorrow!

So, where do i begin? When we pulled in yesterday, we were all a little disappointed with our Campsite...it's not that it was terrible or anything like that...it just didn't have a very large pool (which was so warm it was not at all refreshing) and also it had NO kind of beach access! So, Kipper, Betty and I went Campsite shopping early this morning! turns out that right up the road a 1/2 mile is a KOA, so we checked it out and WOW is it nice!! huge pool and Hot tub....and small beach access.. (plenty big for who all's there now) this is the "off" season down here! :) so tomorrow we will be moving there and then the fun will begin......BEACH It in the morning, and POOL in the afternoon...come back, eat supper and go where-ever after that!

This afternoon we drove 20 minutes to KEY West~~~ absolutely amazing...Old Town, lots of shops, restaurants and tropical plants and flowers!! "breathtaking" We went to the bullet shaped monument that marks the Southern most point of the United States!! 90 miles to Cuba! many people there waiting to get their pics taken by it....everyone passes their camera's back to the people behind them to take their pictures...it's really cool how people are so congenial at resorts! After we left there, we drove up and down Duval Street which is sort of the "strip" district! ALL kinds of shops, tattoo parlors and really neat things for a few miles!! We found BLUE HEAVEN restaurant that a friend (Bev) had suggested, and this place is like NO OTHER!! really our of the norm.....nice sovenier shop, tables all outside under umbrella's (which was good, cause it rained a little while we were there) hahaha. there is quite a history behind this place...you need to go on-line to read about it, but chickens and roosters run loose all over the place while you're there....they are not pesty or noisey and never disturb you, but they just show up and keep moving on! i KNOW for sure my Sister Kathy would have NEVER EATEN THERE in a million years!!! hahaha but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

After that we left (with intentions of going back some evening and taking the bus tour and getting pictures of a sunset from a certain point!! ) we came back to the camper for supper, and while we were getting ready, someone looked out the window and saw an Iguana!!!!! YES~ pretty big too...we have pictures to share with you, so keep watching for that! :)

Oh, by the way, did i mention that on our way down thru the Keys's yesterday, there were signs along the road saying "Crocodile Crossing" next 7 miles!!! that's right, you read it right....how's that for something you don't see everyday!! cracked me up! and also, the owner of this RV park has a Banana Tree right next door with 3 huge bunches of banana's on it!! i was totally impressed!!

well, that' about it for tonight...we are going out for a bit, and tomorrow is moving day...can't wait to post tomorrow night!! that is if i don't stay in the pool or hot tub too long~~ can't promise anything, i'm a sucker for water and i'll probably look like a dark brown prune when i get home!! (hope so) see ya!

WE'VE ARRIVED AT THE KEY'S.....SUGAR LOAF

Greetings from Sugar Loaf Key!! we are at the camp grounds....arrived about 5 pm! it was a long ride from Daytona, but a good one!! 4 ladies, 2 chicacua's and a cocker spaniel.....in a crew cab Dodge Ram!!
You know we have to be semi-crazy to take on an adventure like that! and we are, but we have fun, everytime and all the time!!

Just so happens, that after supper, we decided to put our suits on and go to the pool for the evening and tomorrow, go venturing out.....so we did, and as we got to the pool, the thunder started....then the lightening!! then the rain!!! grrrrr... if it weren't 95 degree's outside with Palm tree's blowing in the breeze, i'd think i was home again! RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!!!

And, on our way back from the pool.....i look at this one really big tree, and there are 3 huge bunches of bananas hanging from this tree!!! WOW!!!! now that's a first!! i knew they had oranges, grapefruits etc, but never anticipated bananas!! Yum Yum hahaha

well, i hate to be a party pooper, but we are hitting the sack early tonight, so that we can get up and see the sights tomorrow and hit the beach!! WAHOOOOOO see ya tomorrow sometime....maybe!

Day Two @ Daytona Beach!

Wahoooo! Day two in Daytona....yesterday was mostly pool, then to do some grocery shopping....(oh yeh...one little incident at the pool) we were leaving and going into the pool house to shower and change, and had been talking to some people sitting at a table outside the shower rooms....so i turned and went in THE MEN'S SHOWER ROOM!! YIKES!! i saw a urinal, and thought to myself......sumsing wong!!!! boy did i get out of there quick!! Luckily the only man at the pool was sitting outside talking to Kippy! hahaha that was a close one! i WILL look before i go in another one! :O

So, today we are headed back to the pool, because the beach is 11 miles away, and it's just easier going to the pool! Tomorrow morning we leave for the Key's, and will be right at the Gulf, so no driving there! We are having a wonderful time....and it's just awesome being with my friends and living the life i was meant to live!! :)

Gotta go now....we are all getting ready to head on out.....will see if i can get on tonight and tell you more of today's fun in the sun!!

DAY ONE .....Daytona Beach

Greetings from Daytona Beach Florida!!! We arrived last night about 5 pm.....left NC at 7:15 am....but with 3 doggies, and fueling up and rest-stops .....we arrived a little later than planned! but that's ok, cause we're in the South....and anywhere down her works for me!! :)

We got the Camper all hooked up and ready in less than a half hour......and when i say "we"...i mean Kippy and Betty!! hahaha what do i know about 30' campers??? well, i know that they are as nice as any Hotel, Motel, or Cabin i've ever stayed in!! there is nothing we can't do or that we don't have!! It's AWESOME!!! This is definitely the life i was meant to live!!

Today is off to grocery shop and to the pool, and probably the Ocean at some point....we have to drive to the Ocean from here, and we're only here til Wednes a.m.....so we'll see how this all works out!! No PLANS....just one hour at a time!!

This is short and sweet, but it's the first day and not much to say right now......maybe more tonight!!!

Parting, is such SWEET sorrow!

Here is what i'll miss the most, when i leave for Florida!

Although i'm totally looking forward to, and anticipating this "dream of my lifetime" trip, i do wish that my family could all go with me! (wish i had pics of ALL my nieces and nephews and of course my Bro & his wife)

I know i'm going to see many things that i wish they could see, plus watching the kiddo's playing in the sand and water! Pictures don't always capture the magnificence of the whole scene.....the palm tree's blowing in the tropical breeze, the smell of magnolias, and of course the camping out and grilling, not to mention all of the "high" points of interest, like Cape Canaveral, Daytona Beach, the awesome "green" waters of the Keys (if they're not Oil soaked) by the time we get there! so many historic things like Hemingway's homestead in Key West, the sunrise's and sunset's of the Gulf of Mexico! it's just all to much for a camera to relate to those back home! *sadly* Also, on our way back, we will be coming up the Gulf side to Fort Myers and Naples for a few days, then onto whatever catches our fancy! Plus when we start back up the East Coast, we will stop at Savannah (Tybee Island) for a couple days. That's when we will go to Paula Deen's Restaurant (The Lady & Sons)....talk about another dream i've had...she's my very favorite cook on TV, and i just know i'll love seeing her place!

Doing this trip with 3 very good friends is the icing on the cake!! One (Kippy) i grew up with, and we were always hanging out and laughing like nuts....we went our separate ways shortly after high school, and re-connected about 3 years ago! What an Awesome thing that was....she has moved with a dear friend (Betty) to North Carolina, and that is where we will be connecting before we all 4 head south! the friend leaving with me from up here(Lynne) is a fairly recent friend (4-5 years) but it's like we've known each other for years! so much of our past is intertwined with family members, and common interests! It's just going to be an awesome, blessed, interesting time with great friends in beautiful tropical scenic area's! in case you haven't noticed, i'm totally super hyped!!!

i will try to write as often as i can, and keep you informed of all we're doing and what you're missing!! hahaha that was mean, i know, but i want you all to see what i see, and so i will also TRY to post some pics....i will be using Kip's laptop, so it's foreign to me as far as posting pics, so bear with me!!

That's it for now....i must go pull all the loose ends together, because tomorrow is my last day here! i'll have to check ALL of my lists at least two more times, and do some last minute business tomorrow, so thanks for all your prayers and interest in my trip, and i'll do my very best to keep in touch!

Time is running out......in a GOOD way!

Time is running out......we are down to 5 days to lift off!! Either i am completely disorganized or my apartment is too small for packing a month long trip and daily living!! Things are EVERYWHERE!!! my lists are getting longer, and my space is getting shorter!

Snuggy's stuff is pretty much ready to go.....but that's only because she requires NO laundry, cosmetics, or beach stuff.....she's actually pretty easy to pack up..... me? not so much!! (don't get me wrong....i'm NOT complaining) it's a GOOD problem to have!!

Hopefully today i will get the laundry done that needs packed.....and the suitcase out, and then it all becomes reality!!! Clean out the frig....make out my bills for mailing out before i leave, and firming things up with the neighbors.

Yesterday was a good day at the pool for 3 1/2 hours on the float, getting some much needed color base before hitting the southern sun! You NEVER want to go South w/o some preparation for that sun, so i'm well on my way to that! A couple more days and i'll feel confidant about that! Thankfully the weather seems to be co-operating with me on that one, and believe me, here in Western PA that is quite a blessing!

So, there you have it for where i stand right now. i'll check back either right before we leave, or when we arrive in North Carolina on Friday! We will get to Kippy & BJ's early Friday evening, and stay all day Saturday finalizing our plans and packing up to leave Sunday morning. Our first planned stop is Daytona Beach for 2 or 3 days, and seeing things in that area such as Cape Canaveral and other points of interest!!

We are praying for a safe and wonderful time, enjoying great friendships and beautiful scenery! We ALL love the beach, camping and each others sense of humor so when you mix all that with good food, sun, sand & palm tree's.......you'll know where my Blog got it's name!! (with the help of Poodie Lee) xoxo
